Match your email address to your domain

Get your own custom email @yourdomain.com and start building your brand into every email

Our Email servers are completely separate from our hosting servers, each is a specialised service in its own right, separating the services allows us to provide best practise for each type of server and also ensures no single point of failure. In the unlikely event your web server went down, you really don’t want your emails going with it.

We have several email hosting plans available, but they’re not right for everyone, it’s possible you may be better going with one of the big email providers such as Outlook or Gmail. We’ll discuss your needs with you and advise you based on your budget and your requirements.

Email Setup & FAQ’s

Access to SMTP, POP & IMAP Services

Access to IMAP POP3 receiving services, and SMTP sending is always via authentication with username and password. We do not recommend using unencrypted email authentication, it is always recommended access your emails via TLS / SSL.

General information on access settings to your email account:

  • User name to be used on all the services:  always matches your full email address (real and not email alias or a domain alias)
  • Password:  your password for access to the mail box
  • Supported Secure Connections:  TLS (also known as STARTTLS), SSL (also known as SSL / TLS)
  • The Password Authentication Method or protection:  normal

Below are the details of the access parameters to be set on your email client:

POP3s access:

  • user name (eg. name@yourdomainname.com)
  • Password
  • Hostname or the incoming mail server: pop.cbsolt.net
  • port: 995
  • Connection security: SSL / TLS
  • Authentication method: Normal password

IMAPs access:

  • user name (eg. name@yourdomainname.com)
  • Password
  • Hostname or the incoming mail server: imap.cbsolt.net
  • Port: 993
  • Connection security: SSL / TLS
  • Authentication method: Normal password

SMTP Access and Submission (SMTP + TLS) for sending e-mails:

  • user name (eg. name@yourdomainname.com)
  • Password
  • Hostname or outgoing mail server: smtp.cbsolt.net
  • Access port: 25 or 587 (with TLS we recommend 587 as 25 can be blocked by some ISPs)
  • Connection security: TLS (also known as STARTTLS)

SMTPs (SMTP over SSL) for sending e-mails:

  • user name (eg. name@yourdomainname.com)
  • Password
  • Hostname or outgoing mail server: smtp.cbsolt.net
  • Access door: 465
  • Connection security: SSL

To avoid the misuse caused by some mobile push services or clients, we’ve set a limit for the IMAP and POP3 connections: 25 for IMAP and 5 for POP3 from any single IP address. In normal operation you shouldn’t experience any issues, but if your mail client displays an error and you do hit the limit we recommend you set the simultaneous connection limit between 1 and 5.

POP or IMAP, which one should I use?

POP3 and IMAP are two different protocols (methods) used to access email.

Of the two, IMAP is usually the better option – and the recommended option – when you need to check your emails from multiple devices, such as a work laptop, a home computer, or a tablet, smartphone, or other mobile device. You are able to view your synced (updated) account from any device with IMAP.

POP3 downloads email from a server to a single computer, then deletes it from the server. Because your messages get downloaded to a single computer or device and then deleted from the server, it can appear that mail is missing or disappearing from your Inbox if you try to check your mail from a different computer.

POP3 – Post Office Protocol

IMAP – Internet Messaging Access Protocol

You can use only one computer to check your email (no other devices) You can use multiple computers and devices to check your email
Your mails are stored on the computer that you use Your mails are stored on the server
Sent mail is stored locally on your PC, not on a mail server Sent mail stays on the server so you can see it from any device.

Where do I access my webmail?

We offer two webmail options, you can use whichever you prefer the feel of.

Simple Email: https://webmail.justclickhosting.com (just emails)

Groupware: https://sogo.cbsolt.net (a more fully fledged email client, calendar, contacts and tasks manager that can also configure shared folders between users in the same domain – great for businesses users.)

Limitations & Usage Policy

To ensure our email system remains a high reputation email service by other mail servers and ensure your emails go into the users inbox and not their spam folder we have implemented usage policies for the protection of all our customers and their users.

Such policies are necessary to prevent entry onto blacklists or penalties against our SMTP system.

The policies provide for blocking the account at the SMTP level (all other features, including consultation of the emails are not blocked) if it is found abnormal activity of connection to the server or sending emails. Abnormal activity refers to a large number of SMTP authentications in a matter of minutes, continuous authentication of several separate IP addresses or sending messages that contain Spam / Phishing.

In any case, the block policy is designed not to come into operation during the regular use of email by the user using the classic instruments of communication and sending emails (MS Outlook, Thunderbird, iPhone, Webmail or other email client). The block will take effect if you try to use automated email delivery systems (such as Sendblaster or other top email delivery software) or if you are running mass email from your email client or webmail.

The Authenticated SMTP provided with the email hosting service is to be used with the following restrictions:

  1. That use is made by your email client (MS Outlook, Thunderbird, iPhone, Webmail or other email client) for sending direct interpersonal email
  2. It is not allowed to send to mailing lists via automated systems, newsletters or other bulk email methods.
  3. The maximum size of attachments that can be sent is 50MB (keeping in mind that many remote email boxes do not accept such large attachments)
  4. The maximum number of recipients (recipients) for each individual item is 150
  5. The maximum number of authentications within 30 minutes is 100-150 (varies depending on several factors)
  6. The maximum number of different IP addresses from which a user can perform authentications within 30 minutes is 5
  7. Any other kind of abuse, believed to impact the business of the other users may result in a temporary SMTP account lockout
  8. Messages must have a sender (From) that is an active domain of our mailing system

Taking into account the limits set above, there is a fixed maximum number of emails that can be sent per SMTP account of approximately 1000 / day. More than enough for just about any user, however if you are looking to use your email account/s to send high volume transactional emails via your website please contact us for higher volume options.

Locked accounts can be released from within the control panel.

If as a result of the release the issue should reoccur on the same user account the account will be blocked and will remain blocked until we receive an acknowledgement of the abuse interruption by the customer with confirmation of the resolution of the problem that caused sending email spam / phishing ( typically PC infected with viruses that the mailbox password is stealing ). Proper PC cleaning procedure involves removal of the Virus / Malware responsible for the theft of data and then changing the password associated with your email account. The account can then be reactivated to allow the sending of email once more.

Automatic deletion of Email Spam and Trash

Email located in the Spam folder are automatically deleted after 30 days from the date of receipt. To prevent important emails being deleted you should periodically check the messages in your Spam folder, and if necessary move them into your INBOX marking them as “Not Spam”.

The emails moved to trash (Trash folder) are automatically removed after 30 days from their date of receipt.

Mail Shared Folders or Shared Mailbox

The sharing of Mail Folders (or IMAP Folders) allows you to delegate access to mail folders to one or more people (using the IMAP ACL) without having to be downloaded by the user, they occupy space in someone else’s box but you can access them.

All users of our email service have this functionality. Access to these folders is automatically available on iPhone, iPad , Thunderbird, Mail, Microsoft Outlook and emClient.

This feature is very useful and means you can share parts of your inbox with others within your organisation.

Can you recommend an email client?

Actually yes we can – like a lot of people we kind of find Outlook a little bloaty so we are currently using and loving a product called emClient, it’s also completely free for up to two email accounts!

Can you setup our email client on-site for us?

If you’re local within the Thanet and east Kent area, yes, we can come and see you and get you all set up, but actually, it’s a lot easier than you may think, especially if using emClient as it has a pretty clever self setup feature that will try to fix the setup even if you enter it incorrectly. If you would like an onsite setup visit we charge our standard hourly rate plus travel time and expenses.
